Powers and Principalities

Listening to interviews with the leadership of the NRA, reading statistics about U.S. gun deaths, seeing the spike in gun sales post-Newtown, and hearing some of my own friends and family — men and women of faith, goodwill, gentleness, and generosity — talking about being willing to KILL rather than some of their gun rights curtailed, it starts to feel like what we’re wrestling against here is not flesh and blood (or even an interpretation of the Constitution) but what the apostle Paul described as “the powers.”
