Eclectic Reading

Yesterday I went up to the library check-out with three books: Eknath Easwaran’s meditations on the Beatitudes, “Christian Peace and Nonviolence: A Documentary History” by Michael G. Long, and a Calvin & Hobbes collection. The librarian started to smile but didn’t make eye contact.

Me: I could tell you “Calvin & Hobbes” is for my daughter but that would be a lie.

Librarian: We’re not allowed to make editorial comments on this side of the counter.
